On this trip to Amarante, you'll discover one of the greatest jewels in the North of Portugal. Culture, architecture and history await you. Don't miss out!

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Rua do Dr Ferreira da Silva de Oporto and make our way towards Amarante, a charming city with an enormous artistic, cultural and architectural value that will leave you completely stunned. Let's go!

Known for its traditional São Gonçalo Sweets, Amarante is located 60 kilometres (37 miles) from Porto, in the great Serra do Marão and above the Tâmega River, the Duero's longest tributary. Upon arriving, the landscapes that we'll from the city's viewpoint will set the tone for the remainder of the tour of this Portuguese town.

We'll walk along its streets and discover the picturesque houses that line both banks of the river. We'll also learn about the heroic feat of the community of Amarante at the beginning of the 19th century when Napoleon's troops invaded Portugal.

2 of the great attractions in Amarante that can't be missed are the São Gonçalo Bridge and Monastery. Isn't it funny that everything is named after the same person? We'll discover the devotion of the city to this saint!

After enjoying Amarante, we'll return to Porto, where the trip will come to an end after 8 hours.
